This morning in the Wall Street Journal, they published an article, “Baby Boomers Are Leaving Behind a Trail of Luxury Ranches“. To summarize, the generation that left the big cities to live the luxury ranch lifestyle are now wanting to sell and have placed their property up for sale. There are about 20 ranches priced at over $20 million on the market in the Colorado, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of listings. I have featured a number of ranches in the market I serve that are for sale below.
At one time there was a family tradition of the working ranches passing from one generation to the next. Now, the children just don’t have the same interest. They are busy playing video games and dreaming of moving to the city. If the property is a working ranch, the business expenses are causing financial hardships on the ranch owners.
I personally see this rising inventory adds to a buyers market for ranches. For some that do not want to work the cattle business you can always lease out the land to a local rancher or partner with another rancher on the livestock.
